On the afternoon of Sept 5, 2015, about an hour after my wet bandage on my hind hoof/tendon was changed as it has been everyday every 4-6 hours for the last month, my foot falls off. There really is no other way to describe it. Sorry. It was shocking, but my hoof had seemed to have seized over the last few weeks and my doctor felt the tendon was not regrowing. I went straight to him when this happened. My body had taken control, made the decision I didn't need this hoof anymore and discarded it. A new healing and daily wrap started today as I know have a stump.
Over the next few months while my stump is healing, callousing, etc. I still get wraps. I start to get socks, shoes, boots etc. so I can be level and hold myself up. Loosing my hoof was hard. It is another challenge I deal with daily; But my body knew I didn't need it and would be able to heal better without it.
