Mimosa
the Handi-Can Goat

Mimosa is our Handi-Can or Handi-Capeable Myotonic  (Fainting) Goat - Over the last year she has overcame milestones and throughout her journey has lifted many's spirits while also demonstrating such determination she has helped create motivation for others to recover from their own obstacles, mentally and physically. Please check back as we continue to update site.

Mimosa is an Inspiration

Picture
Mimosa was born July 28, 2015 mid-afternoon, she is a Myotonic (Fainting Goat). At two weeks old Mimosa was victim of an attack by a wild coyote, her Mama saved her. The attempt on her life left her with three legs and also resulted in her only having hooves on her front legs. Multiple vets work with Mimosa and each have been surprised this little girl survived but are amazed by her strength and will to live.

Mimosa is a very happy goat, throughout her hardships and struggle you will never hear her complain. She has amazing love in her eyes and touches the heart of everyone she meets.

Mimosa is not "exotic" but she is one of our Educational Ambassadors and we all learn from this little girl every single day. If you get a chance to meet Mimosa please feel free to share pictures with us via email, Facebook, etc and share your experiences with her. We will continue to update her page to keep everyone up to date with her progression and successes.

Mimosa is currently awaiting her first working set of Prosthetics. We have done 3D printer scanning, prototypes, and plaster casting and molding. Currently there are no animals to be successful with a prosthetic on a rear limb if amputee is above the knee. Mimosa's first attempt she was able to actually stand for 3-4 seconds on her own. She will walk again!

In the meantime between all her visits over this last year to Pre-K -Elementary - Middle - & High Schools, Universities, Libraries, homes, hospitals, retirement centers and more she has inspired so many as a Therapy Goat and is looking forward to continuing this work.
