Sunday, February 28, 2016 my journey towards walking again takes a new direction and I didn't even see it coming. Over the last few months I have outgrown different carts, harnesses, boots etc. I am getting heavier and it is making things harder for me to balance and hold sturdy. My moms have checked into different options. No one wants to make a prosthesis for me as Im still growing and will outgrow it (possibly before its even finished) and just need another one made. They are expensive, but so are my carts. Lucky for me I have determined humans around me and I keep outgrowing my wheels and they keep coming together and designing new ones. They even follow me around with broom and dust pan to collect any pellets I may leave. Now I admit at this point in my life my humans had hard days, frustrated with boots and shoes that fall off my nub. They spent hours upon hours tweaking poles and wheels, to keep designing me working carts. Many strollers, crutches, walkers, camera tripods, etc. have been sacrificed for my cart designs. | So today is the day I went to one of our Educational Programs for Boy Scouts of America Troop 4183. Mom Kezia Bohanan thought the troop would enjoy one of our Animal Programs and set it up through my mom Jennifer Kasserman. The pictures here are me during the program that day. After the program I met and got petted and scratched and love from the audience. I do this all the time. I had no idea when I met Chuck Hatler this day he was going to change my life. Chuck talked to my moms that day about me. He talked with them about how Boy Scouts of America have been doing amazing things with 3D printers and prosthetics for children. He took our card and said he didn't see why I couldn't have 3D legs and would be in touch. |
What happens Next...
Over the next few weeks Chuck and his wife make me a priority. He called and researched and talked to many people about my condition. He was determined to find a way for me to take my next "steps" in life in as timely a fashion as possible. Without Chuck I would not have the opportunities I have today. We all THANK HIM so much for seeing and believing and looking any and everywhere he could for help for me.
